Welcome to Hudson Bayou
While this city is quite close to Downtown Sarasota, the neighborhood maintains its tranquility, offering the best of both worlds to residents through access to all of Sarasota’s amenities while still securing an essence of solitude and comfort. Its prime location and beautiful homes are what help put Hudson Bayou in such high demand. The community is comprised of just over four hundred homes, including eight residential estates and three low-rise condominiums with eight two-story units each.
At the northern tip of the neighborhood, just below the acclaimed Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, the Mediterranean style of the condominiums is only a taste of the diverse range of architecture that makes Hudson Bayou the unique community that it is. The homes of Hudson Bayou range from vintage to state-of-the-art, as many of the earlier 20th-century homes have been restored to their original glory and new innovations and styles have been implemented in more recent years. Some of the estates have historic significance, like the Wallenda Family home, and some are architectural marvels like the Sarasota Castle.
Spanning from Orange Avenue to Osprey Avenue, Hudson Bayou runs roughly twelve blocks down to Hyde Park Street, offering a plethora of beautiful homes surrounded by some of Sarasota’s most popular venues and trendy restaurants. The neighborhood is also filled with majestic, old-growth oak trees and waving palms, as well as lush, tropical, beautifully maintained landscaping and quite a few butterfly gardens. It also has the added bonus of being neighbors to a number of grand waterfront mansions and estates to the west, while being separated from US 41 by the charming Avondale neighborhood to the east, helping to contribute to the quiet essence of the downtown adjacent community.
